Description
From the old town of Bordighera (elevation 36 m), head north toward the hamlet of Sasso and continue through greenhouses and flower crops until you reach the “aristocratic” village of Seborga (12 km, average gradient 4%), overlooking the T. Borghetto valley. Continuing further north to the hamlet of Negi, follow a very low-traffic but somewhat uneven road (with a few steep sections) that skirts the ridge in a semi-cultivated open environment, then continue northward until reaching Perinaldo (elevation 565 m). Climb the S.P. 61 road to the pass, then descend briefly to the hamlet of San Romolo (elevation 777 m), where a break for refreshments and water is recommended. Continue climbing on a paved road to the slopes of Monte Bignone (5.6 km, 5% gradient), then proceed on an easier stretch northward to Baiardo (866 m).
For the return, descend along SP 63 to Isolabona, then join SP 64 of the Val Nervia heading south. Just past the historic center of Dolceacqua, take the bike path connecting to Camporosso and then the sea. Continue along the full seafront bike path heading east to return to the starting point.
